History

Jon-Luke was born mid-summer of 1992 in Chicago, Illinois. Though he is from Illinois, he spent most of his youth growing up in New Hampshire as the youngest of 4 children. His parents were highly educated; his father having studied physics and later worked in banking, while his mother studied chemistry and worked in the healthcare field.

During his childhood, Jon-Luke had a lot of time to himself. His siblings were all 5-8 years older than him, he was home-schooled until 5th grade, and later, at 13, his parents would divorce. Although these realities posed somewhat of an obstacle, it helped Jon-Luke develop a self-motivated and independent mindset that would serve him well in the future.

At the age of 7, Jon-Luke was first exposed to coding through his brother Jakob. His brother was enrolled in a High-School programming class, and, after passing the class, he proceeded to give Jon-Luke his Visual Basic 6 training manual, a book that Jon-Luke still owns today.

Many of the first programs that Jon-Luke created were designed to aid in his social activities; dice rollers, character creators, etc. It was the combination of the social and practical that had an endearing effect on him. It served to continuously reinforce his curiosity and provide new challenges that he could easily motivate himself toward to improve his skills and learn new ones.

With increased exposure to the wonders of computers, Jon-Luke quickly developed a lifelong passion. He was drawn to the limitless well of possibilities that technology could manifest; so he continued to develop his skills in coding and creating. Since then, he has applied himself to many projects, diversified his skill sets, and become a vocal proponent of technological development.

“Some of the first apps I made were character creators and dice rollers for Dungeons & Dragons. I thought it would be so much easier if I could do everything with the click of a button, and so I made it happen.”

Mission

Jon-Luke has a profound passion for developing technology that works synergistically with the human experience. He strives to create technology that is intuitive to use, humanist in intent, and accessible to everyone.

“I think tech should work for you, we have all had experiences where we find ourselves fighting the program, fighting the implementation, or just having frustrating experiences. Why is this? Honestly, I find it not just infuriating but frankly unnecessary. Technology should be designed from the ground up to not only be intuitive, but it should also be humanist in its intentions, perspicuous in function and imminently accessible.”

Future

Jon-Luke’s orientation for the future is not limited to just one field. Although his primary interest is in developing technology that enhances the human experience, he dedicates his effort across many fields and projects. He is a published instructor with LinkedIn Learning, he has worked in the fields of event and program planning, and he is an avid enthusiast of 3D printing and 3D design. Jon-Luke is also an enthusiastic patron and co-designer for a variety of creative endeavors from jewelry to table-top games.

Jon-Luke’s goals for the immediate future involve creating a reliable ecosystem of technology that empowers the individual and provides them with a stable experience they can confidently integrate into every aspect of their lives.

“Programming is magical. You are, in a sense, doing modern magic, creating with limitless possibilities. It’s my passion and something I enjoy doing. Creating viable and ethically minded technology will always be my major focus, but I acknowledge that as people we are diverse in our needs and tastes. I don’t want to be limited to just one thing; so, I will often pursue different projects because they are fun, beautiful, magical, or inspire a sense of wonder in me and others.”
